Los Angeles, CA, April 5, 2010 – UGL Equis Senior Vice President Josef Farrar was recently awarded the 2010 “Volunteer of the Year Award” at a recognition dinner hosted by Five Acres, a child and family services agency in Altadena, CA that strengthens families and prevents child-abuse through treatment and education in community-based and residential programs. Originally founded as an orphanage in 1888, today Five Acres offers an array of services including a residential treatment center, a non-public WASC accredited school, mental health services, foster care, adoption services and domestic violence prevention. The agency serves more than 4,000 children and families throughout Southern California annually.
After joining the Five Acres board in 2006, Mr. Farrar took over as chair of the building and grounds committee and led Five Acres through the long and complicated process with the city and county bureaucracies while providing oversight to the design and construction of the beautiful new S. Robert and Denise Zeilstra Research and Training Center. The 2,600-square-foot craftsman-style building was designed by Fred Wesley of PBWS Architects.
Mr. Farrar, 56, a resident of San Marino, CA, heads the UGL Equis office in Downtown Los Angeles as Senior Vice President and Managing Director.
